Pet Sympathy Card

I am so sorry to say that this challenge card I made today for the TGIFC #107 was not made just for a card to have on hand. I really do wish that was the case here. That being said the theme of the challenge was a very timely one. I will be mailing it out in the morning to someone who is very near and dear to me. They lost their dog to a very brief illness this weekend. Lesson learned for me is build up my card stash with both sympathy cards of all types and get well cards.

I have never made a sympathy card for a pet before and given I didn’t have much time I wasn’t sure exactly how it was going to come together. I am used to using grays/blues, butterflies and flowers for sympathy cards. I was trying to have the card be a little understated in soft browns with just a slight pop and dimension. I am happy with the way it turned out. See what you think. On with the card design and ingredients.

The card came together easily with just a few supplies. I used Neenah desert storm card stock for the base, card front and a dark brown border. The border is cut with a Simon Say Stamp stitched rectangle die.  I didn’t have any appropriate stamps so I used a paw print embossing folder to print the design with Tim Holtz distress ink in tea dye. The sentiment was stamped with Memento cocoa brown. The solid paw prints have some clear Wink of Stella on them. I used a few dark brown cut out hearts and some dark brown floss for the bow. After I glued on the hearts I did put some glossy accents over them for some additional detention and shine.
