I had a some free time this weekend so I am sure you can guess that I was in my craft room just…merely creating!
I saw the TGIF challenge #110 colors and just loved the combination. So I started with a striped pattern design and it went on from there. I have two cards
to share today.
I will be entering them in the challenge for TGIFC#110 and SSS Anything goes Wednesday challenge. On with the card designs and ingredients.
Card # 1 – I did some ink blending stripes by masking off with post it tape for the back ground with SSS Hybrid inks in Spring Rain and Sunkist. Then cut the words out of the striped pattern panel. Cut several more out of black card stock and layered 3 of the black for the inlaid piece for some dimension.
TIP: Remember to save all the little pieces to use for the background. I glued one black set of words in so I could easily glue in the colored stripe pieces. This helps with the placement of the tiny pieces and assures for proper placement. Then I took the other die cuts and layered them together before putting them down on the card front.
You know I had to use some Clear Wink of Stella on the words. Then I covered the words with Glossy Accents. Used a die cut stitched rectangle frame from SSS dies to create a border around the focal point. Finished it off with a few colored sequins and some smaller Pretty Pink Posh 3mm clear sequins. I just got them in a SSS haul and I love them. I will need more in other colors and sizes.
Card #2 – Well you know there was all these die cuts left over so I just had to keep going. I created a butterfly border with a layering stamp set called Fab Flowers from Lawn Fawn that was also in my recent SSS haul. I couldn’t resist and got the Stamp and Die set. I will surely be getting a lot of use out of this set. The flowers are adorable.
I used the same ink colors to match the striped words that I inlaid into the rectangle left over from the border that was cut for the first card. I also stamped a complete butterfly and die cut it out of some scrap white and popped it up on the card front near the sentiment focal point. Of course you probably cannot see it but there is Wink of Stella on the lettering. Finished this card off with some colored enamel dots.
These would make nice get well cards or encouragement cards for someone going through a tough time. I would love to hear which one is your favorite?
