Love lives under the sun – Summer note card.
Welcome crafty friends! Here is a card I made for the Color Throw Down Challenge #452 this week. I tried a new embossing glaze which I will elaborate on later. It took a few days for this one to come together as there were multiple steps that required some drying time.
On with the card design and ingredients.
I started with some watercolor paper and used Distress ink in spiced marmalade to do a watercolor background. To get the intense color I first took the ink cube and smooshed it onto the paper. It actually looked like rows of colored blocks. I then added some more ink with a large brush to wash over the panel to fully cover the panel in the golden yellow color. Then added some water droplets to lift the color off to create some texture. I let this panel air dry.
Then I used a Hero Arts triangle stencil and Nuvo Mousse in Aquamarine for dimensional shine. Let this dry overnight.
I stamped the sentiment, from a Fiskars tropical set, in Versafine Onyx black ink onto SSS turquoise card stock.
The SSS Bikini die was cut from plaid card stock. These were then covered in Clear Wink of Stella. Then topped with PICO.
IrRESISTible PICO Embellisher – (PICO) is the new gloss embellishment I tried. I had heard others talking about it recently but wasn’t sure exactly what it was until I saw a recent video by Amy R at Prairie Paper and Ink who also mentioned how to use it and why she liked it too. Amy is one of the designers here and if you haven’t checked out her blog or videos you really should. Her designs are so fun and she provides great instructions. I happen to see the PICO at my local Joanne’s last week and pick it up. I have to say I do like it. It is a bit more fluid to apply than glossy accents. Which I found to be easier and the price point is similar.
I used a few SSS heart outlines in red and some black and white bakers twine for more embellishments, color and dimension.
I punched the end of the sentiment strip with a pinhole paper punch to create the bakers twine fringed end. The black panel does have horizontal lines of Wink of Stella on it. This panel was popped up with foam squares as was the bikini. There is also Wink of Stella on the red heart outlines. Hope you like it.
