Hello everyone. I haven’t posted lately as I haven’t been able to get into the craft room for a while. I found some time a few nights ago to make a card using the MFT Smile kit. There is a lot of great stamps and dies in this kit. (Photo below) I put one together for the CTS #234 challenge using the colors from the PP #357 challenge. The design is versatile and could be changed up to make it into whatever type of card you might need in your card stash. Hope you like it. On with the card design and ingredients.
I first stamped the flowers and leaves using the color palette from the challenge. Then die cut them. This was much easier with the new stamp and die design feature that MFT has added to help with the alignment. (Photo Below) Then arranged them according to the sketch. Choose the sentiment. When I like the placement I took a photo.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to use patterned paper or washi tape for the border strip. I tried a strip of patterned paper and realized the flower bunch seemed to be missing something. So I decided to do the border strip and also created small rectangle frame for the flowers by masking off the area and sponged on the distress oxide ink.
I was really glad I had the phone to reference for the flower placement. I stamped the sentiment and then glued down the leaves and small flower. I used foam squares on one side of the coral flower the other side was glued flat and the aqua flower is popped up on foam squares to give it some interesting dimension. The card front was then glued down to the card base.
The flowers have some clear Wink of Stella on them and the final touch was a few sequins.
Ingredients:
Paper: Neenah 110# white and 80# white
Inks: Distress oxide in broken china, Distress inks in abandoned coral, shabby shutters and pealed paint. Versafine Onyx black. Embellishments: Clear Wink of Stella and Pretty Pink Posh 3mm Sparkling Clear sequins.
The stamps and dies are from the MFT Smile kit. Notice the notched feature they added to the stamp and dies. It really does help with proper alignment for die cutting. Love it. I have also numbered them with red permanent makers for easier matching. You can see I will be using this one many times.
