Hello crafty friend,
I have a few really cute and easy Halloween treat boxes to share that I made for the TGIF – tic tac toe challenge #127 and the SSS Monday Challenge – A Walk on the Dark Side.
I am having the best time creating treat bags and boxes for Halloween. Boy does it bring me back to how I got bitten by this paper crafting bug to begin with. It is just one word “waste”. You know we cannot let anything go to waste. I made about 50 little paper baskets for my daughter’s wedding shower favors and had a few scraps left over from 2 very inexpensive 12×12 pads. Yup that was it. Started by looking for things I could do with the leftovers. For a while I was making just treat bags, boxes and tags.. then got into card making. You can read more about the addiction here from my first post if you like.
Anyway on with the box designs.
This is what I call a 2x4x6x8 bag/box. You can find the directions on You Tube or Pinterest by typing in 2,4,6, 8 box You’ll find many examples and tutorials.
These are made with black or orange card stock. A 1 3/4 x 3 1/4 piece of designer series paper from the SSS 2017 Halloween card kit. Then adorned with some of the cute puffy stickers from My Mind’s Eye that were also included in the card kit. I used coordinating colors bakers twine.
Tip: This closure is tied shut with the twine via two notches on each side about 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the top that were punched out with the smaller 1/8 hole punch from WRMK. These help keep it in place.
You can do any type of closure you like. I have done decorated paper clips, colorful clamps, ribbons and even washi tape. I have tied the ribbon top to bottom versus side to side. It depends on the embellishments. I have also created closure bands that have the decorations on them instead of the box. You can probably tell I have made a few treat boxes and bags.
I like making all types of paper crafts. I make more cards now but do enjoy all types. Do you have a favorite? I would love to hear what your favorite craft passion is.
I hope you check out the challenge blogs for more fun and inspiration.
I bet you can tell which winning row I used as inspiration!
