Hi Everyone,
I am not sure how it happened but I do finally have a card to share today that I made for the SSS Wednesday Challenge. This week the theme is Snow White. You can interpret the theme in many ways. Such as using snow as part of the design or lots of white. This card had trouble coming together. I am surprised at the results as I had to rescue it a few time from the circular file. I will divulge more later. On with the design and more about the fixes.
I had a panel of watercolor card stock that I had a watercolor wash in using distress oxide ink in broken china. It was quite blotchy with a lot of white background that just wasn’t appealing and I was looking at it to try to figure out what to do with it. I love the color and didn’t want to toss it. So I did some distress sponging over it in the same color. I was happy to have save the panel.
Then I stamped the snowman from an Art Impressions stamp and die set. Colored him in with a few colored pencils. Used some silver Gansai Tambi watercolor for the Pom Pom and to adorn the scarf.
Next I stamped the snowflakes from a Stampin Up set called Endless Wishes in Versamark and white heat embossed them. Of course one was smudged. Ugh.. What to do…what to do… It was all about the placement. I managed to cover the smudge by putting the focal point up a bit and the sentiment strip made a good cover. The velum banner is a Sizzix die and the red banner is an MFT die.
That isn’t it. The big blunder is yet to come. In my own defense I was doing the card way after my bed time. Like many of us do. I picked the sentiment and stamped it (the wrong one) and glued all in place. Realized it was a two step sentiment and the last word was missing and there was no room for it. Ugh again… So I peeled up the bottom of the snowman. Tuck in another sentiment strip and glued it down right over the other one. Not ideal but an ok save.
Finally added a few dots of silver Wink of Stella to each side of the sentiment and covered the drops with some Crystal Nuvo drops. Then added some clear Wink of Stella to the snowman.
All in all with so many mishaps I am happy with the final outcome.
If you have any fix tips that you would like to share.. I would love to hear how you too rescued a design. I may need the help sometime.
