Joy Ornament Card in Monochromatic White

Hi Everyone,
I am excited to share this monochromatic card I made for The Paper Players Challenge #370 this week. The theme was White on White. It took me a little time to come up with the design as I am so used to using color and trying to match colors. Seems like white on white should have been easy right..well not so much for me. But in the end I had such fun making this card. There were a few steps but It was really very easy to put the card together. On with the card design.

So this card kind of came together in steps as I finished one I decided on the next. I first started by creating the background panel by using a Heidi Swapp triangle stencil and her white metallic texture paste. I really love the shine It is just stunning in real life. In some light it appears silver but really it looks like a pretty alabaster pearl. It would really be beautiful as snowflakes too. Guess I will be looking for a nice snowflake stencil. I was going to do a cute polar bear design but once the background was done I thought…gee I need something else that will really showcase the background. The next step is what I came up with.

The ornament is a die cut from Darice the came in a set of two and both cut, emboss and stencil.. I did cut the center out with a circle die so that I could add the velum behind that I stamped with a Stampin Up snowflake from the Endless Wishes stamp set. I did heat emboss the snowflake with some SSS fine white embossing powder.

I also cut the ornament 2 more times and cut the circle and glued them all together to create some dimension. Added some white ribbon and a small tag die cut from a Concord & 9th set that is call Bags and Tags. The small tag was stamped with word Joy from the Stampin up snowflake set in Silver Delicata ink. Used a little silver embroidery thread to tie it on. Added the ornament to the shimmering panel with some a few foam squares. The panel is glued to a white top folding A2 card base.

I really enjoyed this theme after all. I can see myself embracing this monochromatic color palette in some future designs.

Be sure to check out the challenge blog for more fun and inspiration.

  1. White on white is a very interesting challenge. I do love that textured embossing paste – it makes a great patterned background. Love the snowflake ornament too. Great job. Thanks for joining us at The Paper Players this week.

  2. This is such a great card, Pat. I love the metallic paste you used for your background and wish I could see the shine IRL. Love the snowflake on vellum and fibers, too. This card has such wonderful texture. Thanks so much for sharing with us at The Paper Players!
