Holiday Coffee Card

Hello Everyone, .

I have another coffee holiday card to share today. It is for the Winter Coffee Lover’s Blog Hop Challenge. I love coffee themed cards and this blog hop. If you haven’t checked it out be sure you do. They have so many fabulous prize sponsors. The gallery gets bigger and bigger every hop. You will have a great time checking out all the entries. There is just so much talent and inspiration to be found.

I made this card this weekend in steps as I had my grandson overnight and was busy entertaining him. We had so much fun going around looking at all the Christmas lights and watching Rudolph.

Before I get to the card I will share that this is a save card. A “save card” is one with a blunder….a mistake. I think most card makers have similar experiences and some may discard their mistakes. I try to rescue them with an embellishments or another design technique. I will share my blunder below and you can see how I saved this card. On with the card design.

I used a set from Neat and Tangled called Beary Christmas. I started by stamping the bear. Then created a mask. Colored over him with cracked pistachio and stormy sky Distress ink. I removed the mask and colored the bear in with watercolor pencils. Used the same mask to add some silver Delicata ink stars over the background. Stamped the sentiment in Versafine Onyx black ink. Panel is cut with a SSS stitched rectangle die. The panel is glued to a red panel and then to a top folded A2 card base.

There is Wink of Stella over the plaid scarf. The nose and eyes are touched up with a black gel pen.

The cup was created in the same manner and die cut with the matching die. Added some Glossy Accents to the coffee. The cup is popped up on a foam square. I added some red bakers and it was done.

Here is where the blunder happens. I can’t leave well enough alone so Ithought I would add some black Nuvo drops to the eyes for a bit more dimension and shine. Oops a splat happens. There was no easy fix. Until I thought of these…google eyes.

Be sure to check out the challenge blog for more fun and inspiration.
