Sweet Birdie Greeting Card.

Hello Everyone,
Hope you’re enjoying your Sunday. I have this sweet card to share today that I made for this weeks SIP color challenge #142, Seize the Birthday teal and white challenge and SSS Weds flower frenzy challenge. I hope to get some more crafting in later on. I will start by saying this was definitely a design as you go as it was truly a happy accident.

I am just trying out the foiling technique and it’s been a bit of learning curve. I am not sure if it is the laminator or that the foiling gel paint was a bit older. I will keep working at it. On with the card design and ingredients.

So as I said this was a happy accident because the foiling didn’t take to all the areas that were painted with the gel using the oval flowered stencil from the SSS 2017 March kit. I had intended to do just a simple teal/aqua foiled egg pattern with some coordinating colors as mats but when it didn’t come out right I decided to go in a different direction. The oval design shape had an interesting appearance so I added some inks with a water brush in Distress Oxide Cracked pistachio, Evergreen bough distress marker and a Tombo Blue marker that really made it pop. I really love how it turned out. It has a sort of foiled distress appearance that could be considered a mixed media.

I cut the panel with a SSS stitched rectangle. Then added some Nuvo Crystal drops in liquid mercury to each corner to simulate a bolted/nailed look.
The card base was stamped in MFT grout gray with the large MFT polka dot background stamp.
I used a scrap of a lime green to teal/aqua ombre patterned paper from American Crafts color crush 6×6 pad. This and a SSS slate gray were also cut with the SSS stitched rectangle die. These were all glued flat on the card base.
Then I cut the bird and sentiment from card stock using the Sizzix triplet dies. The bird is popped up on foam squares and I added some white gel pen polka dots to the birds wing.
It really is a sweet versatile card depending on the inside sentiment you would have lots of options with this one. Your inside could say It’s Your Birthday…, It’s Easter…., Of you to be so thoughtful… I need to make more of these for sure. Great card to have at the ready.

Be sure to check out the challenge blogs for more fun and inspiration.
