Reely Big Coffee – Reely Big Birthday Wishes

Hi Everyone,

I am so excited to share this card today for two reasons. 1. A new technique for me where I used paper napkin to create the background and 2. This is the most wonderful blog hop. I just love it.

When it rolls around I always refer to it as “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!” Just the song goes. You all know the one I am talking about right.. I can go on and on why this is my favorite hop….It’s one of my favorite themes to make cards about..The one with all the fabulous prizes from so many amazing stamping companies. Ok…ok..I know you guessed it but just in case… it’s the Coffee Lovers Blog hop. It starts today and ends next Friday. There will be so many beautiful coffee, tea and cocoa designs to check out for inspiration. It is just so much fun to browse the gallery….Oh an making the cards too.

Here is my first one.

I hope to get a couple more in before it ends. Well on with the card design and ingredients.

So as I mentioned I tried the napkin technique where you take just the printed layer of the napkin by peeling it away from the other layers every so carefully. Then you use a dry hot iron and some wax coated freezer paper. Place the napkin pretty side up onto the freezer papers wax side and cover it with a napkin or piece of printer paper and iron it. They adhere together very quickly. Then cut it down for you project.

Note to self – Don’t stamp on it. I was lucky the sentiment didn’t bleed much. It’s fine gives it a slight underwater feel.

The Card base is SSS Green Card Stock. The Cup is it from Blue card stock.

I used TH Watercolor paper for the cup and created a blue wash with Distress inks in Tumbled glass and Stormy sky.

I die cut the cup and coffee letters from the MFT coffee cup die set.

The stamps are from Sweet Stamp Shop – Reel It In stamp and matching dies.

The cup base, rod, and fish were cut from the watercolor wash panel that I added just a hint of distress ink in cracked pistachio.

I covered the rod and fish in glossy accents.

The napkin panel is glued flat on the green card base. Cup is glued flat to the sea creature napkin background. The rod and fish are all popped up on thin foam squares. Lastly is added a few sea breeze blue-Jewel Nuvo drops.

Be sure to check out the challenge blogs for more fun and inspiration.
