Hi Everyone.
Is anyone else getting ready for the winter holidays. I know it seems early with Halloween not even here yet. But I have to get started. I like to make a lot of tags, bags and gift cards for the season. Some just to add to a package and others as little hostess gifts. I had fun putting together these cute little gift enclosure note cards. I will be making a variety of holiday designs throughout the season along and hope to do more Halloween and Fall too. Here is the first of the winter holiday season cards sets. On with the design and ingredients.
So I have a confession to make. This was a happy accident card design. What I mean by that is. It was supposed to be a little bit larger with a sentiment stamped at the bottom. But….I broke my own rule and didn’t stamp the sentiment first. Once I had the layers on and stamped the design…this is where the problem happened. The ink bled into the paper and it wasn’t as crisp as it should have been. It was ok but was driving me crazy. So…. I chopped it off and I really like the square design better.
So I have to say my inspiration came from what appears to be trending out there this season and it is the buffalo plaid design. I have always love buffalo plaid in fact I have a flannel shirt with a very similar plaid pattern. I didn’t order any stamp specific to the buffalo plaid but I know I may have to. What I used was a very small plaid stamp from a SSS kit. But would love a larger one too. So I may be ordering one soon from Taylored Expressions. I saw they have one and it is now on my wish list.
The card was a premodern set of craft colored note cards from American Crafts.
The only stamp used as I mentioned is from SSS set called Choose Joy. It is about a 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 inch square stamp. I cut 2×2 squares from card red card stock and stamped in Versafine Onyx black ink. Then die cut them with a square die set from Darcie.
The black card stock if from MFT and it was cut with a Casual Friday die from the Merry Labels set by Catherine Pooler. I am not sure you can see it but the die has a nice cut and an interesting embossed edge to it.
Lastly I used these cut Taylored Expressions holiday charms that I cut from Neenah white card stock and topped with a black and white twine bow.
The black layer is glued flat and the plaid and charm are both popped up on thin foam squares. The most difficult part was cutting the foam to adhere the snowflake and trying to tie the perfect bow. Which I am not very good at. Thankfully I had the help of the reverse tweezers. Otherwise it was quick and easy.
