Fun Colorful Mixed Media Birthday Card

Hello Everyone. Happy Sunday to all. It has been a fun day again in my craft room. I needed a special birthday card and tried something outside of my comfort zone that I have always wanted to try. It definitely was a labor of love and it is amazing it got done without a disaster given the number of items used from my stash and the look of my work space when it was finished. I will share that below. On with the design and ingredients. Let me know what you think of the mixed media style. 

There really are so many items and in hopes not to miss any I am sharing a photo with all the main ingredients. 

Paper: Canson Watercolor, MFT black and Neenah 110# white. 

The embossing paste was colored with regular distress ink in festive berries. The brick patterns were stamped in Versafine Onyx black ink. The Impress circle numbers were stamped in Archival garden patina. Used foam squares to pop up the cake and a few of the words. Ribbon is a silk coral colored from May Art. Everything else is in the photo. 

Started by stamping the Tattered screen background in oxide iced spruce. Once dried added the brick patterns. Next sponged the 4 other colors of Distress Oxides. 

I cut a 2 inch circle and used it as a stencil and stamped the Birthday background in Archival tea rose through the stencil. Some of the graphic circles from the Impress stamp set are stamped in Archival tea rose and pink peony. 

Cut this panel down with the Taylored Expression Frayed Edge stacklets die. I used the largest die. To get the black panel I just used the large one and taped it down to the black card stock and fussy cut it out to create the framed border. 

I used the stencils to lay down the embossing paste I colored with the distress ink. While this dried I created the inlaid die cut cake.

This Paper Smooches cake die was cut first from black and then from white. I colored the various section of the white die cut withe the Metallic accents watercolor paint. Once dried I inlaid them back into the black outline cake piece. This was glued to a scrap piece of card stock to keep it all together. 

The panel need a bit more shine so I added some stamped clusters of dots in Delicata Pink shimmer ink all around. 

I tied the ribbon on the panel. Popped up the cake over the ribbon. Added the sentiment that was created with a Dymo label maker. I cut each word separately so I could run them vertically down the side of the panel. I glued all the panels down to an A2 top folded card that I sponged the edges lightly with the same colors. Lastly I glued down some Nuvodrops that I had previously made. 

I hope I didn’t miss any thing. There definitely was a lot of steps in the making of this  mixed media style card. I have to say it was a lot of fun and I think I will incorporate more of this style into my future card projects.
